Frequently Asked Questions

What is hemp extract?

An extract is a preparation method that concentrates an ingredient—in this case, hemp. Hemp extract consists of phytocannabinoids and plant matter such as terpenes and flavonoids.

What is the endocannabinoid system?

The endocannabinoid system is located in the mammalian brain and throughout the central and peripheral nervous systems, consisting of neuromodulatory lipids and their receptors. There are two main types of receptors in the ECS: CB1 and CB2. CB1 receptors are primarily located in the central nervous system and brains of mammals, and CB2 are generally found in the peripheral nervous system.

What are terpenes?

Terpenes and flavonoids give cannabis its taste and smell. These aromatic compounds are also found in fruit, spices, and other plants to produce scents ranging from sweet citrus to more pungent odors. Beyond simply producing smells, terpenes also work in synergy with cannabinoids to contribute to the Entourage Effect within the body’s endocannabinoid system.

What should I expect when taking CBD?

Everyone is unique and may have a slightly different experience when taking CBD. For most people, CBD as a daily supplement can provide a general sense of balance and well-being by supporting the endocannabinoid system. This is often described as a feeling of calm, relaxation, and relief from everyday stresses.

What is cannabidiol (CBD)?

Cannabidiol, or CBD for short, is a non-psychoactive phytocannabinoids. Phytocannabinoids are chemical compounds found in hemp plants. There are over 80 different phytocannabinoids.

How much CBD should I take?

There’s no one-size-fits-all when it comes to CBD. Everyone is different and will respond to hemp extracts in different ways. Finding your ideal strength and serving might require some adjustment over time. We always suggest starting with the recommended serving size and adjusting as needed to find the best fit for you.

How much CBD should I give to my pet?

Because our pets also have an endocannabinoid system, we developed a line of hemp-derived CBD just for them. Our four-legged companions come in all shapes and sizes, so while we can offer general guidelines, it’s best to start low. From there, adjust as needed to find the ideal serving for your pet.

Typical suggested servings start at 1mg to 5mg of CBD per 10lbs of body weight.

Will I fail a drug test if I use CBD oil?

It depends on the testing standards of the lab administering your drug test. Most companies only search for the THC cannabinoid, which is the main psychoactive component of the marijuana plant. While BioClinical Science products are THC free, there are some testing facilities that check for a spectrum of cannabinoids that could trigger a positive drug test. You can always contact the lab to verify what exactly will be tested.
